Gautham Menon is happy over his film being selected for the National award under the Best Tamil film category. The director, who dedicates the award to the Vaaranam Aayiram unit, said, “I am particularly thankful to the film’s hero Suriya who crafted both his roles superbly. I am also thankful to Sameera Reddy, Divya Spandana, cinematographer Rathnavelu and music director Harris Jayaraj.”
Though Gautham had directed films like Minnale and Kaakka Kaakka, this is the first time he has received an award and a prestigious one at that. According to him, all those who have been associated with his films have won several awards, but this is the first time for him.
