Suriya’s Hindi teacher

RGV's 'Raktha Charithra' which is a two-part biopic on the faction leaders of the Rayalseema area in Andhra has Suriya doing the character of Suri. It is a realistic film made in RGV style and Suriya will be shooting for the film sometime in February next year, say the sources.
As the schedule is nearing, we asked Suriya regarding his preparation for the Hindi Version. He said that he is taking special tuition from a Hindi professor from Madurai as he would like to dub in his own voice for RGV’s film. And the latest we hear is that his sweetheart Jo is also helping him out full time to learn the language.
Moreover Jyothika will be in the sets of ‘Raktha Charithra’ with baby Diya for few days and assist Suriya with his dialogues.

SUPER STAR PRASIES K.S.Ravikumar and Surya

We all know that our Superstar is one person who never fails to appreciate hard work and quality products, we have one such incident here...
Rajinikanth had gone for a special screening of Suriya’s ‘Aadhavan’ along with his family. We heard that Latha Rajinikanth, Soundarya, Aishwarya Dhanush and our Superstar’s grand son Yathra were in Four Frames Preview Theatre on October 16th.
The whole family was enjoying the show so much that our Superstar laughed loud heartily over the comedy scenes. (The fact we all know is that no hero can be as comical as Rajini is... He is a multifaceted Superstar!) Rajini was visibly having a great time laughing over the scenes between Suriya and Vadivelu particularly and came out of the theatre with a big smile. Rajini had wished the film’s producer Udhayanidhi saying, “The film has come out so well. Congratulations for your whole team. Suriya-Vadivelu combination has worked out so well.” Then Rajini had immediately called K S Ravikumar and said, “Ravi Sir, the film is really excellent. You have used Suriya so well. You and Suriya can work again.”

Surya to Sing in Singam

Once in Tamil cinema there was a trend where the heroes lend their voice for all the songs in the movie. But slowly it changed and playback singers started dominating the music field. But now again the trend is changing. The music directors are bringing in the new change. It was seen in Kanthaswamy that Devi Sri Prasad made actor Vikram sing all the songs in the movie.
This added a lot of value to the movie. This technique worked out well and the audio was well received by Vikram fans and music lovers. The latest buzz is that Devi Sri Prasad is going to try his hands with Suriya. Yes, we can listen to the voice of Suriya in his upcoming movie 'Singam'. Devi Sri Prasad after having discussed with Suriya, it seems that Suriya has given a positive nod to sing a song in his movie.

LETS WAIT FOR OUR STAR'S SINGING VOICE

Surya's advice to fans on six-packs

It’s good to keep your body fit. But please don’t tone your bodies for six-pack’ said Surya as he interacted with media channels over herein Chennai.
The actor was present along with his director K.S. Ravikumar and producer Udayanidhi Stalin to promote their upcoming film Aadhavan.

Throwing more light on the film, Surya said, “I will appear as a 10-year old boy in the flashback sequences. As K.S. Ravikumar came up with this idea, I wasn’t sure about doing it since we never knew how far it would be favourable. But Mumbai based visual effect specialist Govadhan had made it possible.”

Adding more about six-pack mania in town, the actor added getting involved in six-pack workouts will yield adverse results.

AADHAVAN MOVIE REVIEW

Aadhavan
Starring: Suriya, Nayanthara, Ramesh Kanna, Vadivelu.
Direction: K.S.Ravikumar
Music: Harris Jayaraj
Production: Red Giant Movies

The biggest of this festival season is here and it comes with great expectations. Suriya is targeting a hat trick of hits while KSR is all set to follow up the Dasavatharam phenomenon with another big grosser. Have no doubts when you enter theaters, this is a trademark KS Ravikumar product, no holds barred entertainment with elements for just about everyone in the family. But, it does also come with its share of pitfalls and flaws.

A professional assassin, sharp shooter, jet setter, high flyer – that’s how Aadhavan (Suriya) is introduced to the audience. The customary introduction song does not actually set a racy tempo, but is still foot tapping. He never misses his aim and that brings him a big assignment, one that promises crores. A judge all set to report his findings on a sensational case is the target and Aadhavan is ready to shoot. The bullet misses, the judge survives, Aadhavan fails. With crores and a huge reputation to protect, Aadhavan vows to complete the unfinished job. How, when, where? Watch Aadhavan to find out.

The basic premise of an assassin and the target must lead you to think of a suspense filled, tense and intense plot. But what you get in the first half is exactly the opposite .

You are introduced to a large joint family, Saroja Devi (on screen after 12 years) is the eldest member and Nayanthara as Thara is her granddaughter. Vadivelu is the domestic help and at the helm is the Late Murali who wields the whip and a stentorian tone. Suriya joins the mix and you are in for a hilarious one and a half hours. Trust KSR the script writer to blend and infuse comedy into any story, he does it with finesse here and executes it to near perfection as a director. Ramesh Khanna joins in later to add to the humor quotient. While the main plot does keep moving throughout the first half, it is only close to the interval that it takes a decisive twist. Post interval you are told the details of an unknown identity, a flashback narrates a few family relations and the reasons for an old wound, before we cut back to present to resume the main plot. By now, the pace has slackened a bit. A little bit of romance is slipped in, but it has been kept in check which helps the main plot maintain its course. The last half an hour is perhaps the weakest portion of the movie. Even though the events unfold at a pretty steady pace it fails to engage the viewer. The climax, in an isolated yard with a crane, fully filled petrol tank and a pond nearby are typically Kollywood masala fare. It definitely could have been better.

In the bid for uninhibited entertainment, logic and reason have taken a beating at places. Though that is not uncommon in cinema, those instances do leave you searching for explanations. The most prominent is the scene where Aadhavan opens up about his identity to Thara- How Madhavan became Aadhavan? Later, when it is opened in front of the whole family, everyone seems to swallow whatever has been said without even a shadow of doubt. But, KSR has managed to a large extent to cover up for the lack of clarity at places with his racy direction. In fact, you might find yourself asking questions about the logic behind many incidents well after you have left the theater, not while you are still watching the film. Other dampeners include the placement of songs, especially in the first half. The ‘Dekho Dekho’ number seems unnecessary and extraneous to the script. ‘Yaeno Panithulli’ and ‘Hasili Fisili’ captivate with the visuals and exotic locations.

Technically, Aadhavan has got few things to boast about, presenting Suriya as a 4 feet something tall 10 year old boy must be a first in Tamil cinema. Though one can clearly make out that it is graphic patchwork at quite a few instances, overall it is a job very neatly done, great effort. Camerawork by R Ganesh is adequate. It is only in the above mentioned songs that he gets to translate a rich feel onto screen. Harris Jeyaraj’s music which is already a hit could have been placed and used better, the songs would have served as a bigger strength to the film that way.

Suriya walks through a role that does not challenge him much. The effort and risks taken in the fight sequences, especially the first chase through Kolkata where he can be seen jumping over rooftops etc.., tell a lot about commitment. He looks stylish, angry, cunning and innocent while bringing out different shades of the character that he portrays; a well crafted performance. Nayanthara escapes the glamour trap after a long time and looks fresh. Saroja Devi brings in some old world charm to the proceedings while Murali is authoritative in what is sadly his last film. Sayaji Shinde, Rahul Dev, Riyaz Khan and others do a fairly neat job. Anandh Babu belies the years to shake a leg in the opening song and passes off quite well in a limited but significant role. Vadivelu brings the house down with his comic act. He breathes life into the proceedings every time he is on screen and his antics keep the first half brimming with positive humor; his character adds to the overall Aadhavan experience.

On the whole, Aadhavan is trademark KSR cinema. It has action, comedy, sentiment, romance, music and masala, not to forget his special appearance at the end. There are flaws, missing pieces, loose ends and a stereotyped climax that might put you off, but commercial cinema is always prone to such errors. If you are not a stickler for logic or substance, there are quite a few positives to sit back and enjoy.

Singam shooting spot

The Tamil film Singam means Lion in Tamil and Surya has whiskers to suit the title and the muscles to match the king of the jungle.
The action film, which is expected to release next year, is directed by Hari. It stars Surya as a cop and Anushka Shetty as the heroine.
Shooting is currently on in the red sand forest area of Therikudieruppu -- in the heart of Tuticorin district -- which literally means a desert homeland. And in this desert, in sweltering 40 degrees heat, Hari, who hails from Kachnavillai village 5 kms from here, has put up a massive open air temple.

Adhavan press meet

"Aadhavan is a family entertainer right from word go. It has comedy, romance and action at right mix. The movie is about the story of an assassin in Kolkata. It has action sequences but they are devoid of blood and gore," said Suriya today.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, he said, "It's my first film with K S Ravikumar. After Dasavatharam, he wanted to do a different film perhaps a family entertainer. I was initially nervous working with him. But he tuned me well to play the lead role. He is a live wire on the sets. Still young at heart, he knows what to give to the audience."
Confirming reports that he is playing a 10-year-old in 'Aadhavan', Suriya said, "The highlight of the film is that I am playing a 10-year-old for a flashback portion. It enhances the story of the film. Initially we thought of shooting the portion with a young boy. But for the sake of genuinity in the script, we thought of taking the risk. We approached several computer graphic designers for the purpose, but to no avail. Finally I decided to do it myself and with proper guidance from my director and some modifications in my body language and voice."
Saying that he shares a very good rapport with Harris Jeyaraj, Suriya said, "This is my fifth film with him. He has come up with some catchy tunes. Hasili Fisiliyae is already topping the charts. A dedicated musician, Harris is a delight to work with."

ADHAVAN @ KERELA

Post Ayan’s success, Suriya and his value is flying high. Suriya has a lot of fans in Andhra and Kerala.
We heard that the Telugu version of ‘Aadhavan’ has been titled ‘Ghatikudu’. Now the film is ready to stir the air in Kerala too. Unlike all these days, ‘Aadhavan’ has been sold to Kerala for a whopping 1.25 Crore! Suriya’s ‘Ayan’ directed by K.V. Anand was earlier sold for 80 lakhs and went on to earn 1.25 to 1.35 crore.
This Diwali weekend will be having Mammootty’s ‘Pazhassi Raja’ and ‘Angel John’ with Suriya- Nayantara action adventure ‘Aadhavan’ racing in the God’s own country.
Actually Suriya is nowadays in the gang of bigwigs like Vijay, Kamal and Vikram, who already have a big star status in Kerala.
Apart from this ‘Aadhavan’ has raised great expectations mainly because Suriya has teamed up with Nayantara. She is the girl of the state and is an actress with a great fan following which will boost the business.
Wow…Then Suriya Chetta will rock the State!

Surya is enjoying singam shooting !!

Suriya’s ‘Singam’ has made it to the final stage of shooting. As of now the climax is being shot in a small village in Thiruchendur. To give a native touch to the scene, the team had erected an open air temple with a huge Ayyanar statue.
We hear that a lot of fans are coming to see Suriya. And our young hero is so jovial that he is spending time along with his fans till a shot is getting ready. Looks like Suriya is happy about the way the natives treat him. He is also going to few of their houses and having a good feast with them.
“People of Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi are seeing me as a member of their family. Their affection is stunning me. Though these people go out of their place for their line of business, they all come together as a family during festive seasons, this is really touching,” said Suriya in an interview for a local channel.
On the other hand director Hari is confident to make it big, as ‘Singam’ is being shot in his lucky locations like Kutralam, Thiruchendur and Tirunelveli.
Yealay Makka, 'Singam' Pongaluku Seeri Varudhulay...
