With his humble manner, soft-spoken approach and very versatile career in cinema, he has impressed and inspired the younger generation. Yes, we are talking about Suriya, the model hero of Kollywood. Today is his birthday and Galatta.com wishes him a very happy birthday!

Looking back, Suriya began his career in cinema through Naerukku Naer, a Mani Ratnam-Vasanth film. Starting his career as a romantic hero, Suriya made a successful transition to a six-pack abs action hero, maintaining the subtle balance between commercial and artistic elements. His performance in Nandha, Pithamagan, Perazhagan, Mounam Pesiyadhe set a new standard for a hero and brought Suriya a special identity. Khaaka Khaaka is a gratifying combination of action and romance; Sillunu Oru Kadhal stands proof to how a hero can underplay his performance to suit the character on screen. Ghajini showcased his aggressive avatar. Vel is his dual role extravaganza. Vaaranam Aayiram and 7 Aum Arivu is a sample of his seasoned performing capability. Ayan and Singham have taken him closer to action aficionados.

In addition to his appeal as an actor who always enthralls audiences with a variety of roles on screen, part of Suriya’s charisma comes from his star wife Jyotika. In fact, the public constantly bombard him with fond enquiries about his wife, little daughter Diya and son Dev. Together, the couple participates in and contributes considerably to many charitable causes. Suriya also made his Bollywood debut with RGV's Raktha Charitra (made simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi).

Back home, he is currently shooting for his upcoming film Maattrraan opposite Kajal Aggarwal and, directed by K.V. Anand. In the film Suriya will be seen as a conjoined twin. After this he is likely to team up with director Hari for Singham sequel.

All the best and a very happy birthday, Suriya!
